Bungoma Deputy Governor Janepher Mbatiany has been lauded for being at the forefront of supporting people with disabilities within the community.

In an exclusive interview with The Times Newspaper, Emily Chesebe, a woman born and living with physical challenges, praised Mbatiany for her compassion for people with disabilities, regardless of their shortcomings.

“I am so honored to have secured an employment opportunity in the office of Gender, Sports, and Culture, courtesy of our beloved Deputy Governor, who honored her pledge during one of the events where I recited a poem that impressed her and governor Lusaka,” divulged Chesebe.

She further refuted claims that she has been misused by the county government, which has been giving her false hopes of employment while she drives their political agenda at the grassroots level.

“I would like to clear any doubt from the members of the public and politicians who have been peddling rumors that the Deputy Governor did not fulfill her promise; I am now employed under permanent and pensionable terms at the county,” she affirmed.

Chesebe, on the other hand, assured her counterparts that the county government is in pursuit of achieving inclusivity, and soon many women and more so PWDs will secure employment opportunities and other benefits.

“I encourage women, youth, and PWDs not to relent in showcasing their abilities out there; your talent can take you to high places; don’t fear or doubt your capabilities,” Chesebe concluded.
