Kimilili MP Apologizes for Insecurity In The Area Assures Speedy Investigations
Kimilili Member of National Assembly Didimus Baraza has officially made public apology to areas drastically affected by insecurity in the country.
Speaking to The Times Newspaper days after the burial of the late clergy Rev. David (who was killed in cold blood earlier in April) in Kaptama, Mt.Elgon. the legislator condemned the heinous act and called upon security officers to accelerate the process of bringing the perpetrators to book.
“It is very unfortunate that we had to lose an energetic and fruitful man of God for the police officers to realize they are sleeping on the job, it is nonsensical that some are deployed to roadblocks strategically to harass bodaboda guys instead of looking into security details and protecting the local mwanachi,” lamented Didimus.
He however, assured Mt.Elgon residents as well as those inhabiting areas prone to banditry and attacks that the government will fasten its belt to ensure their safety is mandatory and not a privilege.
“As government, it is our duty to protect each and every Kenyan citizen so that they go about their daily activities comfortably and confidently in the pursuit to build our economy,” reiterated the legislator who’s also an ex- military officer.
Echoing his sentiments was Kiminini OCPD John Onditi challenged the police officers in charge of Mt.Elgon to be on the alert so as to curb such unwarranted occurrences.
“Allowing such criminals to be on the loose is very risky especially to the neighboring towns, for instance Mt.Elgon is near Kiminini hence making it easier for the perpetrators to find hideouts there creating more tension especially to potential investors,” expounded Onditi.
Conclusively, insecurity has been and remains to be one of the hardest hurdles any government has had to tackle. Regardless, the local mwananchi puts his hope in the government of the day to prioritize this sensitive matter and make Kenya a haven for investors to venture.
