KURA DG Silas Kinoti Faces Calls for Immediate Resignation Amid Corruption Claims

In a recent development, the Director General of the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA), Silas Kinoti, is facing mounting pressure to resign amid allegations of corruption.

The National Bunge la Mwananchi, a prominent civic advocacy group, has issued a stern ultimatum, giving Kinoti a seven-day window to step down from his position within the state parastatal.

Should he fail to comply with this demand, the group has declared its intent to mobilize its members for demonstrations and a sit-in protest at KURA offices, all aimed at advocating for his removal.

“We demand that Eng. Kinoti resign from his role within seven days, failing which we will rally our members to stage protests and occupy KURA offices until he is ousted from his office,” they stated during a press conference.

The lobby group, led by Kiverenge, emphasized that President Ruto’s commitment to combating corruption, a longstanding impediment to Kenya’s development, could be jeopardized by figures like Silas Kinoti. They pointed out Kinoti’s previous involvement with KURA where they allege he fostered corruption and impunity. As a result, they view him as a weak link in the fight against corruption and irregularities within the authority.

To further their cause, the group has initiated legal proceedings by filing a petition at the High Court, seeking the removal of Silas Kinoti from his position as KURA Director General.”
