Port of Mombasa Halves Vessel Waiting Time to One Day

The port of Mombasa has reduced waiting time for a vessel to discharge its cargo and goods from two days to a day.
Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) Managing Director Captain William Ruto said the port facility is the only one in the entire region that allows vessels to wait for only a day to discharge cargo and goods.
He challenged port users to confirm his sentiments with shipping lines and stakeholders.
“I wish to applaud the authority employees for the commitment they have taken,” he said.
Ruto said he applauded the authority employees for their performance and commitment as a dedicated work force.
He was speaking during the reception of a newly-built modern ship MV Ever Vim which called at the port of Mombasa along berth number 22 in Mombasa county.
The KPA MD said they have resolved to improve on export of both cargo and goods despite numerous challenges.
Captain Ruto told the media they have room for efficiency and improvement in service for the stakeholders.
Evergreen line headquarters representative Amir Abdelsalam told the media the vessel is the second one to be built within a span of two months.
“We are happy to use the authority facility within the region,” he pointed out.
