Shun Divisive Politics, Mutua Tells Political Leaders

Machakos Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua has called on the people of Mt. Kenya region to remain united ahead of the general election.

The Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader and presidential aspirant said the region has witnessed incidents of political activities that could fan animosity and divide the community.

“The political rhetoric and chest thumping that we have witnessed in parts of this region in the recent past is not good for the people,” Mutua said.

He added that there are political leaders who are taking advantage of the fact that President Uhuru Kenyatta is serving his final term to divide the central region for selfish political reasons.

“I was politically nurtured by former president Mwai Kibaki and I have matured politically under President Uhuru Kenyatta, both of whom are sons of this land, and I am perturbed with the political ongoings in central Kenya that if not checked will reverse all the gains made by both Kibaki and Uhuru,” he said.

The presidential aspirant was speaking in Nyeri town where he held his presidential interactions with the public dubbed “Mutua Fresh People Listening Tours.”

Speaker after speaker urged Dr. Mutua to address the problem of markets for local products such as tea, coffee and milk.

Residents complained of slow rate of development and economic hardships facing wananchi.

Mr. Eliud Muturi Kimotho, a university graduate, working as a boda boda rider moved the crowd when he narrated his story of joblessness despite his university degree.

Responding, Dr. Mutua promised to use his experience working in Europe and in Kenya to roll out a masterplan that will fix issues of unemployment and the crippling economy.

In the last one week, the Machakos Governor has conducted forums in Meru, Isiolo and Embu and Tharaka Nithi listening to issues afflicting the public.

Dr Mutua says the information gathered from the views expressed by the public will form a basis for his manifesto to Kenyans in the 2022 presidential elections.
