President William Ruto on Saturday hosted a delegation of Siaya Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) at the Eldoret State Lodge, a meeting which was snubbed by Governor James Orengo who has become a fierce critic of the Kenya Kwanza administration.

The delegation, led by Energy CS Opiyo Wandayi and Deputy Governor William Oduol, all of whom have been at loggerheads with Orengo, had the blessings of ODM party leader Dr. Oburu Oginga.

According to sources at the meeting, Deputy Governor William Oduol and CS Opiyo Wandayi told President Ruto that Siaya County will have a new governor ready to work for the people if Orengo fails to toe the line and that Siaya MCAs stand ready to deal with the governor if called upon.

”The governor’s goose is cooked. He should be a worried man. His impeachment was discussed with the President, and he seemed so receptive to the idea. I highly doubt Orengo will retain his position,” a Siaya MCA who was part of the delegation says on condition of anonymity.

He adds,” Deputy Governor Oduol will be the beneficiary of the ongoing feud in Siaya. He is in good books with ODM.”

Interior Principal Secretary Raymod Omollo,  alongside the county’s Speaker, George Okode, were also present at the Eldoret meeting.
