A middle-aged man, Wilson Wanjiku, has been charged before a Nairobi court with two offences of robbery with violence and assaulting a police officer while he was performing his duties at Ngara stage.
Wilson has been charged with robbery with violence contrary to section 296(2) of the Penal Code and assaulting a police officer in due execution of duty contrary to section 103(a) of the National Police Service (NPS) Act No. 11(a) of 2011.
According to the charge sheet, Wilson is accused of robbing one Samuel Mugane of his phone at the Ngara bus stage under the Ngara Fig Tree footbridge in Westlands Sub-County within Nairobi County.
The Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) states that on December 29, 2025, while at the Ngara bus stage, the accused used a knife to have Mugane surrender his mobile phone, an iPhone XR valued at Sh35,000, to him.
“On December 29, 2025, at Ngara bus stage under the Ngara Fig Tree footbridge in Westlands Sub County within Nairobi County, jointly with others not before court, being armed with a dangerous weapon, namely a knife, robbed Samuel Mugane of his mobile phone, an iPhone XR valued at Ksh35,000, and immediately after the time of such robbery, used actual violence on the said Samuel Mugane,” part of the charge sheet read.
On the second count, Wilson has been charged with attacking a police officer who was doing patrol in the same area at the time the offence occurred, leaving him with bodily harm.
“On December 29, 2025, at Ngara bus stage under Ngara Fig Tree footage in Westlands Sub County within Nairobi County, wilfully and unlawfully assaulted Corporal Francis Mugwe, a police officer who at the time of such assault was in due execution of his duties of performing his patrol of crime duties, therefore occasioning him actual bodily harm,” part of the charge sheet read.
Appearing before Milimani Principal Magistrate Carolyne Nyaguthii Mugo on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, the accused has denied all the charges, and a plea of not guilty has been entered.
The matter will be mentioned on January 21, 2026, for a pre-bail report.
