Azimio leader’s backyard gets a high court
The Judiciary plans to come up with a high court at Ol Kalou township in Nyandarua county of the former Central Province.
Chief Justice Martha Koome said the judiciary aims at easing congestion at the Nyahururu Law Courts in Laikipia county.
She pointed out the move will allow the judiciary to invest more space on multiple doorways of justice.
“This, together with other ongoing building projects across the country, are not just new
buildings,” she pointed out.
Koome defended the judiciary’s move to come up with more high court facilities which she said is a symbol of the judiciary’s commitment to enhance the physical accessibility of justice.
She made the remarks during the 2023 high court leaders conference held at Flamingo beach and SPA in Nyali constituency, Mombasa county.
The CJ announced the judiciary will open the Siaya High Court building next week at Azimio leader Raila Odinga’s backyard.

Koome, who is president of the supreme court, refuted claims the judiciary’s vision stops at geographical expansion.
She added it extends to infrastructural advancements as well as a testament to opening of a high court in Siaya county.
“This impressive footprint is the result of relentless efforts and unwavering dedication to our cause,” she pointed out.
The CJ told participants at the annual high court leaders conference bringing together the Principal Judge and Presiding Judges of the various stations and divisions of
the High Court that the milestones the judiciary continues to aim for, stand as testament to the judiciary’s steadfast commitment to bringing justice closer to the people.
Koome reiterated the recently launch e-filing in Mombasa county last month after the previous roll out in Nairobi county and the response and uptake of the
service is overwhelming.
She announced the judiciary is now ready to roll out e-filing across the country.
‘’The e-filing across the county will start with Siaya, Kisumu and Homa Bay counties next week and be followed by Turkana and Samburu among others,” she added.
