Basketball Coach William Balozi Buried

Burial rights for basketball coach William Balozi were conducted in Kilifi county despite rains and chilly weather.

The deceased was buried at the family graveyard as mourners broke down in tears after the 1 pm prayers at the tent.

The casket of the remains made its way to the burial site after afternoon prayers as mourners broke down in tears to bid goodbye to the deceased.

Kenya Ports  Authority [KPA] women’s basketball head coach Anthony Ojukwu and his counterpart in men’s basketball Sammy Kiki were among mourners who attended the emotional burial for the long serving basketball coach.

The basketball fraternity attended Balozi’s burial after the body was  airlifted to little-known Kwamagongo village next to Trans East, Mazeras in Kaloleni constituency, Kilifi county.

The burial ceremony was conducted under Islamic rites.

Nominated Mombasa Member of County of Assembly [MCA] who doubles up as Deputy  Majority leader Maimuna Salim Mwawasi eulogised the deceased as his in-law and former classmate at Makupa Primary School in Mombasa county.

Ojukwu and Kiki said in their eulogies that they had formed existing  Makupa Lakers basketball and they departed for greener pastures in the basketball circle.

They told mourners they were solidly with the bereaved family as neighbors, friends and basketball colleagues.     

The villagers thronged the area for the emotional  send off despite the rains.

The deceased passed on at Moi Air  Base hospital in Nairobi.

He left behind a son and a widow.
