Bungoma County Trade Minister flags off streetlights project in Mt. Elgon

Bungoma County has flagged off the program of repair and installation of streetlights in the region under the Ministry of Trade and Industrialization.


Kicking off the program at Kapsokwony market was(on behalf of governor Lusaka) Chief Officer for Trade Denson Baraza who was accompanied by MCAs Francis Chemion (Kaptama ward)and George Kwemoi (Elgon ward).


While addressing Kapsokwony residents, Baraza applauded the unity amongst Mt. Elgon MCAs and called for the same amongst the residents.


“The unity depicted amongst the 6 MCAs across this region should be emulated since it also gives our governor ample time to focus on developmental matters in his capacity,” emphasized Baraza.


He also introduced the new contractor who’ll be working on the tender; James Simiyu of Capstone Construction Limited who thanked the county government for giving him such a rare opportunity.


Eng.Simiyu warned the residents against stoning and vandalizing the installed street lights cautioning them that the new ones will have CCTVs and culprits will definitely be apprehended.


In conclusion, the CO reiterated that the governor has prioritized Mt. Elgon region in this project and will be installing lights at Kipsigon, Kaberua, Chebaibai and Kibuk market.
