Businessman crowned King in the ICEA Lion 2022 golf grand final

A Mombasa businessman beat the odds to be crowned overall winner of the 2022 ICEA Lions Series golf grand finale played at the Nyali Golf and Country Club in Mombasa county over the weekend.

Gulamhussein Zoab got his first victory after posting 43 points on count back to beat 252 golfers during the well-attended series which ended at the coast region with the first leg having been played in Machakos County.

Playing off 23 handicap he scored 22 points on the first ninth hole and 21 points on the second ninth hole to emerge overall winner despite the hot weather.

Club captain Zulfikar Din acknowledged they had a hectic time making the draw with a historic turn out during the sixth leg of the ICEA Lion 2022 grand final held at the golf club course.

Little-known Ushwin Khana won the men’s trophy after posting  43 points on count back playing off 26 handicap.

He managed to score 23 points on the first ninth hole and 20 points on the second ninth hole with the runners up award going to medical physician Atul  Shah after posted 42 points.

Atul scored 20 points on the first ninth hole and 22 points on the second ninth hole while playing off 27 handicap with Abubakar Mohdhar getting the third award in the men’s category playing off 9 handicap after posting 41 points on count back.

George Githinji carried away the fourth award in the men’s category after posting 41 points playing off 13 handicap.

The ever shining golfer Susan Stokes won the ladies trophy after posting 39 points playing off 9 handicap.

She managed to score 18 points on the first ninth hole and 21 points on the second ninth hole with Mombasa based counsel Provia Odhiambo taking the  runners up award after posting 37points playing off 20 handicap.

The third award in the ladies category was taken by Minnie Mbue playing off 26 handicap after posting 36 points.

Prominent counsel Eric Nyongesa was the guest winner of the sixth leg of the ICEA Lion 2022 grand final after posting 39 points playing off 9 handicap with Martin Wahome taking home the runners up trophy in the guest category with 38 points playing off 13 handicap.
