Cases of Voter Bribery Witnessed During Mombasa Gubernatorial Elections

Despite voter apathy during the Mombasa gubernatorial race there were cases of voter bribery the entire day.
Both candidates expressed concern over the poor turn out during the exercise which was earlier postponed due to a mix up of ballot papers during the August 9 general election.
The tight race is between immediate former Mvita MP Abdulswamad Nassir and United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate, Sarai Omar.
The total registered voters in the entire county is 641,000 out of 1041 polling stations with cases of low turn out recorded.
A sport-check by The Times Digital saw voters decline to participate in the day’s exercise demanding to get handouts before casting their votes.
