Cheki celebrates 10th anniversary

Cheki.co.ke has celebrated its 10th anniversary since its inception in Kenya.
Speaking during a dinner and a cake cutting ceremony to celebrate the 10th anniversary at a Nairobi Hotel, Cheki.co.ke’s Chief Exexutive Officer Resian Leteipan said the last decade has been great for Cheki.co.ke.

Letaipan who also seeks to let all know that they do not sale cars but only offer a platform for buyers and sellers to meet, also said that they have also faced challenges.

For instance, she said that at the beginning of their business, many were hesitant to put their money in online platforms but says as days went by, people embraced the internet and that really helped Cheki.co.ke a great deal.

‘It has been a rewarding year. We have also had taken good milestones despite the dynamics of the car market in Kenya,’ she said.
She also offered that the advent of Covid-19 pandemic affected their business but all looks good now as things start to get back to normal.

Letaipan also said that they have put in place stringent verification processes that have enabled them to record zero rates of fraud in their transactions. she said, that has been a success due to the involvement of the police and public in their verification processes.

Cheki.co.ke’s 1st employee Godfrey Gitau who is now the company’s Operations Consultant also offered similar sentiments.

Gitau who was also awarded for being the longest serving employee at the company said at first it was a struggle but they also did their best to make Cheki.co.ke be a trusted entity in the country.

He said initially it was hard for people to get second hand cars in one place but now Cheki.co.ke has seen to it that customers can just click on their website and find what they want, a thing that was an uphill task for both buyers and sellers in the past.

He also highlighted that during their first and half years they did not charge anything but eventually did start charging a fee for offering such services.

‘Trust is paramount in our business,’ Gitau categorically stated.

Some people dropped out of the website but those who trusted the company paid and got their services.

Gitau says they are prepared to do more than they have done in the past to the satisfaction of their customers.
