Corps Africa -Kenya Hosts Annual Project Demo Day to Help Community Projects.

Corps Africa, a non-profit organisation yesterday hosted its second edition of Project Demo Day(PPD). The organisation which is based in several African countries including Malawi, Morocco, Kenya and recently Uganda and the Gambia participates in recruitment, training, and deploying of volunteers to facilitate community-led projects.

The event aimed at showcasing innovative grassroots projects initiated by rural communities and facilitated by Corps Africa, to attract scale-up funding and support from local stakeholders and donors.During the event, volunteers presented community project proposals to stakeholders including private financiers, corporates, local community representatives and government, potential donors, and stakeholders.

“As Corps Africa, we want to address critical gaps in our communities by empowering and collaborating with young people, local communities, and partners to promote socio-economic vibrancy and create sustainable livelihoods. By training and facilitating young people in our local communities, we want to give them a transformative experience, build their professional capacity and adaptive skills, increase resilience, and enable them to secure livelihoods and opportunities,” said Corps Africa Kenyan Director, Dr. Patricia Mugendi.

Dr. Kingori reiterated that the overarching goal of the PDD event was to further promote a culture of philanthropy and build participants’ professional skills in proposal development, research, community outreach, presentation, fundraising, and networking among other skills.

Over 30 youth and rural communities’ projects are seeking scale-up financing from potential donors, the private sector, the local community, and government stakeholders amongst other private financiers. They are drawn from the counties of Meru, Kitui, Tharaka Nithi, Murang’a, Laikipia, and Embu.

Also present at the event was National Youth Council Chief Executive Officer(CEO) Margaret Kiogora.
