Deputy President William Ruto is facing accusations from aspirants in Nakuru who feel the UDA party has its preferred candidates for various seats.

In Nakuru’s Bahati constituency, Irene Njoki who had put up spirited campaigns for the party and her candidature for the seat has joined President Uhuru’s Jubilee Party after learning about Kimani Ngunjiri’s direct nomination.

Njoki has consistently questioned the dalliance between the DP and sitting MPs and other elected leaders yet he is promising free and fair nominations to fresh entrants.

During the Saturday rally in Nakuru, Ngunjiri was visibly given alot of airtime by the DP who made clear signs of near endorsement in favour of the incumbent.

Jane Mumbi,a student and voter in Bahati has warned that the UDA party risks losing millions of supporters if the incumbents are given direct tickets.

” There is big trouble loading and people are beginning to question the honesty in Ruto’s public utterances and his real actions,”

Ruto’s actions at the Saturday rally have irked thousands of supporters in the constituency with some taking to the social media to protest.

Political observers in Bahati have opined that by trying to shortchange Njoki, the UDA party also risks losing parliametary seats to it’s opponents.

Since December last year, Njoki has been running well-oiled campaigns by sponsoring local youth and women to technical courses, among other empowerment and charity programmes.

She has explained that her move to join politics was informed by her urge to change the leadership of Bahati.

“Among my areas of focus, if elected, shall include education, youth empowerment, water provision, sports, infrastructure, security, and the environment,” Njoki said.
