NGOs operating in Fafi constituency of Garissa county have been asked to avoid duplications as they provide humanitarian services to the needy.

Fafi MP Salah Yakub said each NGO should provide distinct humanitarian services instead of duplicating what others were doing.

He explained that if one NGO was involved in provision of services touching on education, others operating in the area should focus on health and social services as a holistic approach towards improving the livelihoods of our people.

“I am concerned that all NGOs are focused on undertaking cash transfer services to needy people while neglecting other sectors which are equally vital to the community, such as provision of  basic health care services and adequate clean water to the families”, the UDA legislator said.

He urged NGOs carrying out activities in the constituency to open operation offices at the two Fafi sub-county headquarters of Bura East and Alinjugur for the purpose of transparency.

“It is quite unbelievable that some NGOs do not appear physically in Fafi but  instead operate like briefcase outfits”, said the MP.
