The Northern Corridor Transit and Transport Coordination Authority (NCTTCA) is an intergovernmental body, encompassing six countries in Eastern Africa, tasked with the job of coordinating transport infrastructure improvements.

Addressing the media at Panari Hotel the executive Secretary of Northern Corridor Transit and Transport Coordination Authority Omae Nyarandi noted, that There are alot of gains that have resulted from that implementation of the corridor.

“As you are aware the single customs territory was implemented in 2014. However there are several pending challenges along the corridor so we have been meeting here to look at the single customs territory,”

The meeting also looked at the impact and the challenges from member states.

“To look at the non tariff barriers along our corridors today we have a meeting with commissioners of customs or their representatives of the EAC partner states looking at those challenges and how we can solve them for the smooth flow of cargo along the corridors and trade”

“ Starting with challenges, we still see a lot of delays in border crossings, delays at the points of entry, it is hoped that with the implementation of the single customs territory and data exchange between the revenue authorities should be smoother so that by the time you reach the border crossing points, the crossing should be shorter.
