The Nairobi County Assembly may not approve Halkano Waqo as the Chief Officer for Planning due to several concerning factors revealed in this article.

Waqo, who previously served under the Sonko and Kananu administrations, has been accused of involvement in corruption and looting during his tenure.

Specifically, he was allegedly involved in the misappropriation of 80 million shillings intended for a food program, diverting the funds for personal gain despite the initiative being initiated by Major General Mohammed Badi.

This accusation has led to an ongoing investigation by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.

Furthermore, members within the planning committee have voiced concerns about Waqo’s suitability for the position, labeling him as corrupt and part of a larger looting scheme orchestrated by Guyo and his team within the county government.

Despite these allegations, there are reports that Acting County Secretary Patrick Analo, South C MCA Abbas Khalif, and Hon Fuad of Eastleigh North are advocating for Waqo’s reinstatement, potentially to replace the current chief officer, Asha Abdi.

However, it appears that the motive behind supporting Waqo’s return may be driven by personal agendas rather than his qualifications or integrity. This situation highlights the complexity and political dynamics involved in the appointment of public officials within the Nairobi County Assembly.
