Governor Ann Kananu’s officers have clandestinely taken over official parking spaces reserved for the Speaker Benson Mutura and the county assembly leadership at City Hall.

The county administration recently installed a gigantic heavy duty power generator at the basement car park where leaders of the county assembly have reserved parking slots.

Activities in the car park have also consumed parking spaces reserved for the Leader of Majority Abdi Guyo and the Leader of Minority Michael Ogada.

Attempts by The Times to get a comment from the Director of Security Services at the county assembly on Wednesday 24th November, 2021 were futile as he was out of the office on duty.

However, our initial findings indicate the repossession of official parking spaces reserved for the Speaker of the County Assembly and the House leadership was done clandestinely by the executive.

Sources at City Hall told The Times the power generator was acquired at a cost of more than Kshs 12 million without going through proper procurement requirements where the user’s input was vital.

Hence the reason for hurriedly installing the generator at the basement parking lot without consulting the county assembly and other user sectors at City Hall, reportedly to conceal the procurement process.

The huge generator lies under power cables and a waste water pipe, a phenomenon that poses catastrophic danger in case of leakage.
