Speaking during an interview, Kabogo said that he is optimistic that the people of Kiambu will give him another chance t serve them as governor.

Kabogo further said other issues he will focus on include land, the poor health and education standards in the county, and rising poverty and unemployment levels.

“There are some people in the county who have never owned the land since time immemorial. I will ensure that such squatters are given land per the law, to improve their socio-economic status,” he said.

He said that the current administration hasn’t been keen on improving the lives of Kenyans where the living standards have gone high compared to when he was the governor.

He said the essence of devolution was to ensure funds are devolved to the grassroots, and for locals at the sub-county and village level to decide their priorities.

“We have so many problems just because people are not involved in development projects and funds are not devolved but mismanaged by the elite, resulting in underdevelopment,” he said.

He said if given a chance, he will put in place mechanisms and structures that will uplift the youth and vulnerable groups to take part in nation-building.

Allocation of ward funds, he said, would be his priority so that people at the ward level are consulted on development matters. This way, he said, the spirit of devolution would be realized.

He noted that Kiambu County was endowed with enormous resources like water bodies, wildlife, and mineral resources that have not been tapped for the benefit of the local community.

He blamed the current situation on the lack of establishment of proper channels of engagement and cooperation between the National Government and the county.

“I will engage with the National Government to prioritize on areas where we can partner to make the lives of our people better and enjoyable, “he said.
