Kenya to host Uganda for the 5th Victoria Cup

Kenya Golf Union is this weekend set to host the Victoria Cup at Limuru Country Club from Thursday 28th July to 31st July.

The five day affair will begin with the practice round and flag raising on Thursday, Four ball better and foursomes on Friday and Saturday and Singles on Sunday and the closing ceremony.


Both teams will have ten players with Kenya being led by the team captain , Dennis Maara of Limuru Country Club. Victoria Cup begun in 2016 but was not held in 2020 and 2021 due to challenges resulting from the Corona Virus pandemic.

Kenya is a three time cup holder. Uganda team will be defending the cup after having won in 2019 in Entebbe Golf Club.

“Uganda is not an easy team and are uptown the challenge but I believe we have what it takes to bring the cup back home”, said Mr .Njani Ndiritu Kenya Golf Union Chairman.

Maara is also confident that team Kenya is fully prepared and ready for the tournament.

The Ugandan team has been in the country since Sunday 24th July and are already practicing and familisiring with the golf course. 30% of the Kenya team playing this weekend is the junior team. This is in promotion of the sport and to have the country playing in the international field in the near future.

The players from Kenya are: Adel Balala, Andrew Wahome, Christopher Andrea, Daniel Kiragu, Ebill Omollo, John Lejirma, Michael Karanga, Njoroge Kibugu, Sammy Mulama and the team captain Dennis Maara
