Lands CS Alice Wahome Leads Tree Planting exercise in Nyeri County.
Cabinet Secretary for Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development Hon. Alice Wahome today presided over a tree planting exercise at Gathiuru Forest in Nyeri County where more than 50,000 trees were planted.
She also led a similar exercise in South Marmanet Forest Station, near Nyahururu Town.
In Nyeri County, CS Wahome was accompanied by the CEO of the National Land Commission Kabale Arero and senior officers from the State Department for Lands and Physical Planning during the tree planting.
“This tree planting exercise will not only restore our ecosystem but also generate income for our people,” said CS Wahome.
Wahome noted Nyeri County is leading country wide in terms of forest cover with 48 percent and 40 percent of tree cover.
Also present during the event were Deputy governor Warui Kinaniri, Kieni MP Njoroge Wainaina, County Commissioner Pius Murugu among others.
