Launch Of ‘Strengthening Capacities Of CSOs’ To Fight Corruption

Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in partnership with The Institute for Social Accountability (TISA) and Transparency International Kenya have today launched the Strengthening capacity of local Civil Society to fight Corruption dubbed; Tupigane na Ufisadi (TUNU) Project.

TUNU is a four-year, €2 million project co-funded by the European Union and Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung that seeks to enhance the capacity of local civil society to fight corruption and creates a platform for engagement with other stakeholders in the anti­ corruption advocacy space.

Peesent during the occassion were; Zainabu Ali for UNDP, Hon.Shakeel Shabbir Ahmed Kisumu East Mp, Diana Gichengo National Cordinator TISA, Sheila Masinde T.I Kenya, Hesbon Ndungu KAS, European Union delegation and EACC representatives.

This event serves as a buildup event towards commemorating the Anti-Corruption Day scheduled for later in the week, which coincides with Kenya’s 20th anniversary since the ratification of United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNAC) on the 9th December 2023.

“We are happy to partner with all stakeholders Transparency International Kenya, to promote strengthening capacities of Local civil society to fight corruption. Strategic focuss of Amkeni wakenya facility by the United Nation are to set up to facilitate financial support and promote human rights, promote accountability and transparency.


UNDP is also funding several initiatives CSOs to enhance public accountability. Civil Society Organisations CSOs hence help in playing oversight role to the existing administration. She also observed that Integrity, transparency and honey should be the cultivated values by each and everyone of us.” Said Zainab Ali of UNDP.

To break the Circle, civil society needs to try out new tools and technologies to fulfill its crucial role as independent actors of good governance. It is the set of circumstances which the ” Strengthening capacities of local Civil society to fight corruption.
