Medical camps rolled out in 30 wards to ease congestion

Mombasa county government has rolled out medical camps within 30 wards to ease congestion at the coast general teaching & referral hospital [CGTRH].

Mombasa governor Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir announced the move is in line with his campaign pledges to the electorate.

He added the medical camps will kick off mid this month.

“The medical camps will begin in Mvita constituency on June 17 this year,” he pointed out.

 Abdulswamad who was flanked by Mombasa County Executive Committee in charge of trade Mohamed Osman and  Chief Executive Officer [CEO] coast general teaching & referral hospital [CGTRH] Iqbal Khandwalla disclosed the ward health facilities will be used as centres for the medical camps program.

He was addressing the media at his Elimu na Mazingira building in Mvita constituency, Mombasa county.

The  governor told the media all six constituencies namely Mvita, Nyali, Jomvu, Changamwe, Likoni and  Kisanui are covered in the medical camp program.

Abdulswamad added the program targets 15,000 families registered with National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) health covered scheme.

He disclosed the Medical camps rolled out in 30 wards to ease congestion will be fully courtesy of county government.

“The move is in line with government policy to ensure every member of the public is free to access universal health coverage as enshrined in the constitution,” he pointed out.
