It is one of the country’s top producers of wheat, barley, potatoes and merino sheep products, but farmers in Narok North sub-county have little to show for it.

Hon. Moitalel Ole Kenya, a frontrunner gubernatorial candidate, spoke exclusively and candidly to the Daily Nation on his Manifesto.

Top on his agenda is to bring all communities living in Narok together so that they can coexist peacefully.

Narok is a cosmopolitan county with several tribes eking a living in it.

On agriculture, Kenta intends to make Narok the breadbasket of the Nation and make value addition for the produce but first work on infrastructure so that the farmers can be able to take their produce to the market without a hitch.

He also plans to give farmers subsidized farm inputs and certified seeds in a bid to boost productivity.

Potato farmers, especially, constantly lament the poor prices per sack, and most of them retain their farm produce, as transport costs to shopping centres are also prohibitively high.

On livestock, Narok is rich with cattle, goats and sheep whose potential Moitalel wishes to fully exploit through lobbying for the Kenya meat commission to set base in Narok and also for value addition.

Narok is home to the eighth wonder of the world: the great wildebeest migration which the man who has the community’s blessings intends to capitalise on.

He believes that with proper management, the park can create employment to thousands of youths whilst conserving the fauna and flora for the Mara ecosystem to regain its lost glory

His manifesto can’t be complete without touching on education and healthcare, two aspects that the incoming Governor has close to his heart.

Kenta believes healthcare must be affordable, accessible and sustainable to every Kenyan.

On education, the witty politician who has served Narok North for ten straight years immediately succeeding the late Heritage Minister William Ole Ntimama, says he will make it accessible from the early childhood education (ECDE) upto the highest tertiary level and at the same time ensure well equipped schools.

Moitalel pledges to have a symbiotic, close working relationship with the National Government in all aspects in a bid to bring development and progress to the great people of Narok county.
