The Micro and Small Enterprises Authority (MSEA) Kisumu office recently welcomed Madam Fletcher Luzilili, the Lead for Clean Start Africa in the Kisumu region, in a promising meeting aimed at fostering collaboration to empower women reintegrating into society.

Clean Start Africa is a non-governmental organization dedicated to restoring dignity and hope for women, girl children, and children affected by the Criminal Justice System. Their mission revolves around providing support for successful integration into society, particularly through skills development and empowerment initiatives.

During Madam Fletcher’s visit, discussions centered on potential areas of partnership between MSEA and Clean Start Africa. One key aspect of Clean Start Africa’s work involves connecting formerly incarcerated women with short business training opportunities. These training programs equip participants with various skills aimed at improving their business practices and facilitating their reintegration into society.

Recognizing the importance of formalizing these women’s businesses, Madam Fletcher committed to referring groups under Clean Start Africa’s care to MSEA for registration into associations. This collaboration between MSEA and Clean Start Africa holds the promise of providing formerly imprisoned women with the necessary support and resources to establish sustainable businesses and rebuild their lives.

By leveraging MSEA’s expertise in supporting micro and small enterprises and Clean Start Africa’s dedication to empowering marginalized individuals, the partnership aims to create a pathway to economic empowerment and social inclusion for women transitioning out of the criminal justice system.

The meeting concluded with a sense of optimism and commitment from both parties to work together towards the shared goal of empowering women and promoting their successful reintegration into society.

As they embark on this collaborative journey, MSEA and Clean Start Africa stand poised to make a meaningful impact on the lives of marginalized women in the Kisumu region and beyond.
