The Nairobi County Treasury, led by County Executive for Finance and Economic Planning Sector, Charles Kerich, orchestrated a pivotal meeting to strengthen internal controls and bolster service delivery within the Nairobi City County Government
Attended by County Executives, Chief Officers, Sector accounting officers, and procurement officers, the session aimed to deliberate on crucial Public Financial Management (PFM) reforms essential to the County’s progress.
The presence of H.E Deputy Governor Njoroge Muchiri added weight to the meeting, as he urged attendees to intensify efforts in achieving identified objectives. He reiterated the unwavering support of the County Treasury towards implementing agreed-upon resolutions, stressing the collective responsibility in achieving tangible results.

Central to the discussions were various PFM reforms, notably the full adoption of e-procurement, increased absorption of development funds, and meticulous adherence to provisions outlined in the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Act (PPRA). There was also emphasis on improving efficiency in budget controls and ensuring prompt financial reporting to national treasury and other statutory bodies.
Mr. Muchiri emphasized the pivotal role of accountants as custodians of the County’s financial management, urging them to pursue continuous improvement. He highlighted the County’s commitment to delivering top-notch services to its residents in alignment with the gubernatorial manifesto, emphasizing the need for accountability and professionalism in financial management.
