All Naivas Supermarket outlets will remain shut on 9th August to allow all staff and suppliers to go and vote.

This is in exercise of their constitutional and democratic right to vote.

The Bill of Rights in the Constitution of Kenya 2010 dictates:

(3) Every adult citizen has the right, without unreasonable restrictions, —

(a) to be registered as a voter;
(b) to vote by secret ballot in any election or referendum; and
(c) to be a candidate for public office, or office within a political party of which the citizen is a member and, if elected, to hold office.

Confirming this, the Chief Operations Officer at Naivas Mr Willy Kimani said,

“We have been doing this all election years. This will be to enable all our stakeholders to vote. We have also talked to our suppliers to ensure we don’t get supplies on that day especially for fresh products.”
