ODM leader Raila Odinga on Tuesday urged Kenyans to embrace the national anthem which is a prayer for the nation and that it can only be brought to deeds through the amendment of the constitution offering equal opportunities to Kenyans.
Speaking in an event for handing certificates of students’ leaders taking oath office Kenya Union of Students Organization (KUSO) at a Nairobi hotel has vehemently insisted that justice will always be the shield and defender of Kenya if there’s a democracy which will be brought by the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
Raila was accompanied by other leaders including the senate minority leader James Orengo who is also the Senator for Siaya County.
He said all Kenyans have a right to equal opportunity and no one should be discriminated against on the basis of gender, tribe, or religion.
Raila took the lead to sensitize the students on the BBI urging them to spread the gospel of building a united Kenya through the BBI.
He at the same time thwarted the hustler narrative which is meant to hold up the country back to the 19th century while their class exists with expensive vehicles.
“Kenya is not going to compete with other countries that are embracing technological innovation and enhancement of skills through the use of wheelbarrows and handcarts. The country needs leaders with a clear purpose that would lead to a transformation of the economy, adding that the hustler versus dynasty politics is completely misplaced in modern Kenya,” he said.
He added that there are advantages for youths and students if the BBI sails through.
Amongst the merits is a seven year waiver on taxes which will go a long to saving youths venturing in entrepreneurship as starters.
For students, there will be a four year holiday before the students commence to pay for their HELB loans.
Raila handed over a certificate of leadership to KUSO’s president Antony Manyara of the University of Nairobi who was re-elected for the second term.
