Karen Ward MCA aspirant Johnson Oduk has promised to ensure that City Hall actualises the requirement that demands 30% of procurement opportunities are given to youths, women and people living with disabilities.

Oduk who is seeking to replace incumbent David Mberia has lamented lack of willingness by City Hall to give youths more opportunities despite existing regulations.

He has attributed this to the permanent cartel network that has held the procurement department captive and inadmissable to new changes

” Our youths and women have business startups that need to be supported yet it’s the same millionaires and billionaires who gain access as our youth people remain cheer leaders,” Oduk said.

He also said that he will push for a youth and women fund kitty that is ward based.

Oduk says that Nairobi has never had a workable Ward Development kitty ten years after the advent of devolution.

” The ward development kitty has remained a scam and it’s shrowded in secrecy. We must get in and deliberately change everything for the better,” he added.

Oduk is optimistic that he will win the seat in the ward that has always attracted alot of interest.
