President Kenyatta leads Kenyans in mourning Kiambaa MP Paul Koinange

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday sent a message of condolence to the family and residents of Kiambaa Constituency following the death of area MP Paul Koinange.

Hon Koinange passed away Wednesday morning at a Nairobi hospital while receiving treatment.

In his message of comfort, the President said Kenya has lost one of its dependable leaders whose undivided focus was the unity, stability and progress of the country.

The Head of State mourned Hon Koinange as a keen and steadfast supporter of the country’s peace agenda through the National Assembly’s Departmental Committee on Administration and National Security where he was the Chairperson.

“The cruel hand of death has robbed us of a steadfast leader. A leader and gentleman whose undivided focus was the peace, stability and progress of our country.

“Through the National Assembly Departmental Committee on Administration and National Security where he was the Chairperson, Hon Koinange advanced legislation and policy interventions that sought to create a peaceful, stable and tranquil nation,” the President mourned.

President Kenyatta prayed to God to give strength and fortitude to the family, relatives and residents of Kiambaa Constituency at this difficult time of mourning.

According to his family the MP succumbed to Covid-19 related complications on Wednesday morning at the Nairobi Hospital where he was undergoing treatment.

Koinange was the Chairperson of the National Assembly Administration and Security Committee.

He became a member of the leading Jubilee party and an MP of Kiambaa Constituency in 2017.

His political journey began way back in 2013.

Several other political leaders sent their messages of condolences to his family.

National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi mourned the departed MP saying the National Assembly has been robbed off a very committed and dependable Member of Parliament.

“It is very sad that the country has lost him at such a time, just when he was spearheading his Committee in the efforts to consolidate peace and security among communities involved in inter-ethnic conflicts across the country.” Speaker Muturi said.

Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo musyoka also condoled with Koinange’s family and the people of Kiambaa,

“My condolences to the family, friends and constituents of Kiambaa MP Paul Koinange. Koinange was a dependable Chairperson, Departmental Committee on Administration and National Security and served the country with great zeal. May God rest his soul in eternal peace.” Kalonzo said.

On his part Kanu National Chairman and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi said that he was shocked by the passing of his friend Koinange.

“His sudden death is a big blow to the nation because he was a towering patriot. Koinange was a very humble man and dedicated leader who was committed to his work and the welfare of his people.” Senator Moi offered.

His death comes after the death of Juja MP, Francis Munyua Waititu, popularly known as “Wakapee”, who succumbed to cancer, dealing another blow to Kiambu residents.

Koinange was a holder of Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, Anthropology and Political Science.
