President Ruto Should not Misuse our Taxes to Sponsor Raila’s AU Job

Bunge La Mwananchi Speaker Francis Awino has vehemently condemned President William Ruto for spending taxpayers money to lobby for Raila Odinga’s bid for the African Union Commission chairperson position.

Awino alleges that he knows how much is illegally spent on matters not pertaining the benefits of Kenyans.

“The Bunge La Mwananchi members drawn from all the 47 counties are dismayed by how the president has decided to ignore the constitution and impose the house levy. He is now using what is meant for the well being of Kenyans to campaign for Raila for this particular post,” Awino asserted.

Awino says Ruto aims at distracting the former prime minister through the post in order to have a walkover in the 2027 elections.

He further asked Ruto focus on improving the livelihoods of Kenyans than being involved in premature campaigns for 2032.

“Kenyans have been on the roads through demonstrations, instead of fixing the economy it’s sad that the burden will be heavier on Mwananchi as you spend resources on external matters that have no importance to the nation,” he added.
