Seek medical diagnosis from quacks at your own peril, Busia DG Mulomi

Busia Deputy Governor, HE Moses Mulomi has cautioned residents against going to quacks for diagnosis to prevent unnecessary deaths.
H.E Mulomi said despite challenges experienced by the Health and Sanitation Department, public health facilities including Sub County Hospitals, Health Centres and dispensaries have an added advantage of qualified personnel to provide right diagnosis.
“Public hospitals have appropriately trained personnel who discharge their duties professionally. Locals should not go to quacks thinking that they will get the right diagnosis. You can end up losing life for no reason,” he said, while at the health offices-Port Victoria plaza in Busia town.
Mulomi who is the acting Health Executive added that, “Without proper diagnosis you cannot know what you are treating. Those criticizing the County Government particularly the health sector should not discourage people from getting appropriate diagnosis in public hospitals,”
He further noted that people are dying because of challenges in diagnosis, a situation he said can be reversed if the advice given is taken seriously.
He at the same time revealed that the County Government has cleared the outstanding bill of sh26 million owed to the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA), adding that drugs worth sh54 million will be supplied to health facilities to address the shortages experienced.
“We have paid the debt owed to the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority and hope that we will receive drugs to be distributed to our health facilities,” he said.
