Team Kenya Ready To Bring The Victoria Cup Back Home

Team Uganda will be facing off against a very ready and prepared team Kenya at the Limuru Country Club over the weekend for the Victoria Cup tournament.

Both teams have been preparing for the past four weeks in preparation to clinch the cup and for Uganda to take it back home.


Speaking during the event, Kenya Golf Union Chairman Mr. Njani Nderitu said, the sport of golf has been growing over the years and this has been possible through growing the talent of youth participating in the sport.

At the Kenya Golf Union we are cognizant that 30% of the players are youths. He insisted that the future of golf in Kenya is the youth and asked that more youths going the sport.


Mr. Robert Ejiko speaking on behalf of Uganda Golf Union President Moses Matsiko said that this is not a war but a competition that us meant to promote brotherhood and sisterhood among the two countries. He also added that this should grow to accommodate the larger East African region.


Former athlete and guest of honor Moses Tanui encouraged the players to never stop practicing and to always be proud when representing their various countries.


Team Kenya captain added that “we have been in camp for the past 3 weeks and working together as a team is what will bring this team home”


The first Friday match will begin at 8:30 led by Dennis Maara of Kenya against Godfrey Nsubuga of Uganda followed by three other matches.

The day’s competition is expected to run until 4 pm.
