Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi believes that we can have more bursary fund beneficiaries if the BBI proposals go through.

The MP has lamented the current CDF allocation, which he says does not allow legislators to allocate more funds for bursary and other educational needs.

Speaking to Radio Jambo on Saturday morning,Wanyonyi said that many constituencies have registered an increased population hence more needy students.

He said that the highest a student can get now is Sh 5000 for those in Primary and Secondary school while those in College and University qualify for a maximum of Sh 10,000.

“ BBI has good proposals for CDF and if it goes through we can have more beneficiaries  from primary school to college,” Wanyonyi said.

The MP Kicked of bursary form issuance exercise across the constituency and announced new measures to ensure genuine students are awarded.

He disbursed forms to Gachie- Karura Ward Residents, Karura-Githogoro Ward residents and Parklands ward. The exercise is still going on in other wards.

“Having an application form is as good as money unless the form is incorrectly filled by the applicant. Next term fees is almost due and therefore parents can now afford a smile even though the economy is tough right now,” Wanyonyi added
