Trademark East Africa says Mombasa Port gateway to East Africa

Trademark East Africa Chief Executive Officer [ECO] Frank Matsaert reiterated the port of Mombasa remains the gateway for the East African Community.

While highlighting on the development projects for the past ten years at the port of Mombasa he said the Finnish government has been the company’s donor for many years.

“The signing of the agreement will improve trade and access to the region as anything that happens at the port affects the entire member states in the region,” he pointed out.

Matsaert applauded the massive changes due to development projects currently taking place at the port of Mombasa.

He spoke during the signing of an agreement to Trademark East Africa at KPA headquarters in Mombasa county. The signing was between Trademark East Africa board chairman Erastus Mwencha and Finnish Ambassador to Kenya Erick Lundberg.

The Trademark East Africa ECO said he is happy to see changes taking place with the assistance of donors.

Matsaert said development at the port will enhance trade within the region.

He added with over 30 percent of trade posts it is a big win in the region and continent at large.

“With donors’ support we have managed to develop 15 border posts along the northern corridor line,” he pointed out.

In his welcome remarks KPA General Manager in charge of infrastructure development Eng Vincent Sidai Esyepet who was representing KPA acting Managing Director Rashid Salim said the authority applauded Trademark East Africa for the massive support they have given in terms of development projects.

He added the development which has the support of Trademark East Africa they have brought value to the authority infrastructure development.

“The list of infrastructure development projects at the port of Mombasa initiated through TMEA is endless which is for the betterment of the country,” he pointed.
