Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi Opens Modern Boarding Block at Westlands Primary

A new KES 29 million dormitory that can accomodate 120 pupils was opened in Westlands Primary on Friday.

The project was co-funded by Westlands CDF and Parents contributions.

The two-floor building offers a lot of amenities, including study rooms, television room and a matron room. Addressing the green-ribbon-cutting ceremony, Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi said the new dorm while providing accomodation to senior pupils at the school, it will also provide a better and suitable environment where students can enjoy their learning away from distractions.

“We are launching this project to improve the infrastructure in our schools. To give our children an enabling environment to enjoy learning. The parents are assured of the security of their children,” Wanyonyi said The Westlands Primary school Head Teacher Fredrick Otieno, who hosted the ceremony, said that in the last five years, CDF and parents have invested in the construction of this multi-million project.

“We intend to set up four blocks. Two for boys and two for girls. This is the first phase of the girls dormitory. I want to thank the MP for the large CDF contribution in this project. We have had various activities such as school walks and fundraisers to make this possible. We assure you that we have made good use of each coin invested in this project,” Otieno said.

Similarly, the Westlands lawmaker unveiled 26 classrooms and administration block that were renovated by Westlands CDF at the same institution. Mr Wanyonyi has also set up a fully functional computer laboratory at the school in addition to erecting of a perimeter wall that secured school land that was almost grabbed in 2016.
