Senate Minority Leader James Orengo has dismissed a media report alleging that there is a plot to remove Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jnr as the Chief Minority Whip in the Senate.

Orengo termed the report as “fallacious and malicious”, adding that the Minority in the Senate has full confidence in the leadership of Kilonzo, who is allied to the Wiper party.

The media report claimed that ODM was planning to crack the whip following the move by its NASA coalition partners (Wiper, Ford-Kenya and ANC) to break away from the alliance.

“This is a fallacious and malicious story. The Minority in the senate have full confidence in the leadership of Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jnr as Chief Minority Whip,” Orengo said in a tweet.

This comes after Kakamega Senator, Cleophas Malala, (ANC) was last week removed as the Deputy Minority Leader by NASA senators and replaced by Kilifi Senator Steward Madzayo (ODM).

The NASA Senators Parliamentary Group met at Parliament to deliberate on Malala’s ouster and eventually agreed to hound him out of the lucrative office.

Malala was accused of alleged gross misconduct and mischief in the recently concluded Matungu parliamentary by-election.

ANC, Wiper and Ford Kenya having been affiliates of the NASA coalition during the last General Election have differed with ODM on Malala’s removal saying ODM being the dominant party in the coalition is misusing its numbers to its advant6age against the NASA agreement that says seats in Parliament needs to be distributed evenly amongst all NASA affiliates.
