Twenty innovators in Kenya have been selected by e-mobility App, Bolt to progress to Den Phase after the advancement of its Accelerator Program in the country.

The talented individuals stood out for their fresh ideas and commitment to developing sustainable technology solutions.

Originally, 120 participants were selected from a pool of strong contenders.

The participants presented their ideas in video pitches, demonstrating a clear connection to Bolt’s vision for African cities.

This vision prioritizes the well-being of citizens, environmental sustainability, and ensuring accessible transportation for everyone in Kenya.

According to Bolt Public Policy Manager George Abasy it is the passion and innovative skills shown by the participants that inspired the expansion.

 “The passion and innovation shown by our participants are truly inspiring. This program offers Bolt drivers and boda boda a unique opportunity to embark on an entrepreneurial journey that resonates with Bolt’s vision for sustainable urbanmobility in Kenya.” He said.

The Bolt Den Phase, which also serves as the Bootcamp Phase, will see these top 20 participants undergo intensive training sessions with industry experts.

This phase is designed to further refine their ideas and prepare them for the highly anticipated Pitch Day in June,where they will compete for seed funding of €2000 each.

The innovative ideas in the top 20 phase revolved around creating mobile EV charging services, motorcycle spare parts and service garages, enhanced safety dashboard camera installation services, and e-mobility hubs in Kenya.

Meanwhile, the remaining 100 participants will continue with the Bolt Academy.

They will continue to receive online business training through the Bolt Academy in collaboration with Alison, a leading online training platform.

Upon completion, these participants will attend a virtual graduation ceremony to celebrate their achievements.

In collaboration with The Nest Innovation Technology Park, Bolt remains committed to providing a supportive ecosystem for all participants. Leveraging a network of experienced mentors, Bolt will guide these aspiring entrepreneurs through every stage of their journey.

The program will round up with the Business Pitch Day scheduled for June.

Here, the top 20 participants will compete for seed funding of €2000 each, and the top ten business ideas will be selected to receive this funding, accompanied by ongoing mentoring support to nurture their ventures to fruition.

This development highlights Bolt and The Nest’s commitment to promoting entrepreneurship and sustainable urban mobility solutions within Kenya’s diverse communities.
