Bungoma enters a Memorandum of Understanding with Safaricom to Digitize County Services

Bungoma County Government has on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Safaricom dubbed ‘My County App’.

This has come in the quest to digitize the country’s crucial services  besides co-creation and development of sustainable and transformative digital solutions among the 14 Counties around Lake Region Economic Block(LREB).

Safaricom has led technology initiative to enable Counties digitize their services and operations through a single, citizen access channel.

Speaking during the signing of the MOU in Kisii County, Bungoma  Governor Kenneth Lusaka hailed the collaboration between Safaricom and LREB Counties dimming it an effective tool towards realization of the development agenda through digital platforms.

“The world has gone digital and we should embrace the digitalized future with open arms; we are glad to be among the LREB Counties benefiting from this platform,” he commented.

The County boss further noted that the partnership with Safaricom will streamline vital County services and increase visibility of revenue collection as well as performance.

“We’ve lost much of revenue collected through corruption but this phase of transformation will help us seal those loopholes to enhance service delivery to the people,” he reiterated.

The LREB Vice Chair implored County Governments to embrace digitalization to improve livelihoods of residents and assured continuous support throughout the program.

“Highly skilled digitalization is key to benefiting from this service, hence we shall walk the talk in advancing our development agenda,” he said.

Under this partnership, Safaricom will develop and support the” My Bungoma App” as part of the” My Bungoma” hub that will provide digital services and citizen engagement.

The platform will ease public access to County services as well as improve livelihoods of residents through co-creation to thrive in the digital economy.

Members present were Governors: Anyang’ Nyongó (Kisumu), Simba Arati (Kisii), James Orengo (Siaya), Hillary Barchock (Kericho)Deputy Governors, Safaricom Management team, County Secretaries, LREB Secretariat among other County officials.
