CS Magoha to be summoned by Parliamentary Labor Committee for allegedly insulting an education official

Education Cabinet Secretary George Albert Omore Magoha will be summoned before the Parliamentary committee on labour and social welfare for allegedly being disrespectful to a local education officer in Uasin Gishu county.

A member of the committee who is Bomet Central MP Ronald Kiprotich Tonui has alleged Magoha insulted a county education officer by calling him stupid.

He said the insulted education officer is a person with grey hair and attained his retirement age during his official visit to the area.

“Let the education stakeholders condemn the CS’s remarks which are irritating,” he said.

Tonui said the abusive language the CS used against the local education officer was inhuman and demoralizing to the civil servant who is a grandfather.

He was reacting to a video clip showing Magoha insulting an education official which went viral over the weekend during a media briefing at Sarova Whitesands beach hotel in Mombasa County.

The lawmaker said to make the matter worse he insulted the officer in front of teachers and students.

Tonui said the action by the Education CS was a big embarrassment to him and education stakeholders in general in the country.

He told journalists, as a teacher by profession himself, the CS has reached menopause in leadership and urged him to retire.

“Magoha is not fit to hold the education docket due to the use of abusive language against an education officer,” he said.

The committee member described the behavior of the CS as similar to that of the outgoing dictator, US President Donald Trump, who lost to Joe Biden.

Tonui said Magoha’s attitude is like that of Trump who was rejected by the US electorate in the just concluded polls.

He said the time has come for education stakeholders to reject Magoha in solidarity so that he is removed from the education docket.

“Let President Uhuru Kenyatta remove him from the sensitive education ministry,” he said.
