Former Lamu governor Issa Timamy said he is ready to challenge his political rival Lamu governor Fahim Twaha to reclaim his seat in next year’s polls.

He confirmed he will be in the gubernatorial race to reclaim the seat he lost during the last general elections.

“I will vie for the seat on Amani National Congress (ANC) ticket as I have not joined ODM under the umbrella of Azimio la Umoja under the stewardship of Raila Odinga,” he said.

Timamy said he is not a party hopper and his loyalty to the ANC party of Musalia Mudavadi is unquestionable.

He spoke at Kenya School of Government [KSG] after representing his client who was summoned by the National Land Commission [NLC] sitting in Mvita constituency in Mombasa county.

The former governor said political parties are not a big issue of concern ahead of next year’s polls.

Timamy said the current leaders were elected not on account of their political party affiliation but due to their development track record.

He urged the electorate to give his party leader Musalia Mudavadi a chance to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta who is set to retire next year.

“Mudavadi is the best presidential candidate who can put the country’s economy back on its feet,” he said.

He insisted the rest of the presidential aspirants are jokers who lack credibility to take over the Jubilee administration.

“Let’s give Mudavadi a chance to take the country to the next level,” he insisted.
