Desperate Nairobi Governor aspirants fail to win over county workers

Attempts by Nairobi gubernatorial aspirants to get the support of members of Kenya County Government workers Union (KCGWU) to support their bid have fallen flat after the latter boycotted several meetings.

Despite enticing officials of the KCGWU, Nairobi branch with goodies, meetings with the aspirants led by Azimio’s Philip Kaloki at Charter Hall expected to involve 1,000 members and another of reduced number of only 100 failed.

Polycarp Igathe and his running mate Philip Kaloki have on several occasions attempted in vain to meet the Nairobi KCGWU members.

On Thursday, the KCGWU officials led by former Nairobi Mayor Joe Aketch presented a memorandum of their grievances to Kaloki during a meeting with him at Clarion Hotel.

However, they are incensed by attempts by the gubernatorial aspirants to turn the memorandum into an endorsement of their candidature.

Different Nairobi gubernatorial candidates and their running mates have in the last few days to the General Election been enticing KCGWU members seeking their support.

The KCGWU cohort is important for any aspirant because they form the core workforce that works with however is elected.

Unconfirmed reports revealed the UDA party Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant Johnson Sakaja was scheduled to visit City Hall to seek the workers support.
