Diani Beach Hotel re-opens its newly refurbished beach beach bar and restaurant

The Diani beach hotel in Kwale county has re-opened its newly refurbished beach bar and restaurant grill which was under renovation during the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

The hotel Managing Director Bobby Ramani acknowledge the hospitality industry is faced with challenges from the outbreak of the pandemic.

He emphasized the pandemic is global and was not in Kenya alone and expressed optimism that vaccines will bring hope as soon as they land in the country.

“The arrival of vaccines against the virus will bring hope in the recovery of the hospitality industry worldwide,” he pointed out.

Bobby pointed out last year Kenya was stamped as being one of the safe destinations for tourists to visit.

The Diani beach hotel Managing Director described the move as a huge advantage to the country’s hospitality industry.

Bobby said the tourism industry was not at its best last year due to the pandemic and the lack of an influx of international tourists.

He reminded the forum the upgrading of the Ukunda airport from the Ukunda airstrip will attract more domestic and international visitors to the country.

“The outbreak of the pandemic had stopped direct international flights into the country via Ukunda airport,” he pointed out.

In his welcome remarks the hotel general manager Jotham Mwang’ombe said the management risked and decided to refurbish the hotel facility at a time of the pandemic.

He said the hotel management took the opportunity during the pandemic to improve the hotel’s facility.

“The hotel management sat and resolved to renovate part of the hotel facility during the pandemic,” he pointed out.

The General Manager told journalists they spent a lot to improve the facility in order to attract more tourists in Kwale county.
