Renowned Academician and Chairperson of KENAPCO Calls for Collective Action on National Tree-planting Day

In response to the recent devastation caused by flash floods across the nation, Dr. Ekrah Ndung’u, a distinguished academician and Chairperson at the Kenya National Private Colleges Association (KENAPCO), has emerged as a leading advocate for environmental conservation. Early Friday morning, Dr. Ndung’u heeded the call by His Excellency, President Dr. Hon. William Samoei Ruto, to plant trees in remembrance of the flood victims and as a proactive measure against future disasters.

Speaking passionately about the importance of youth engagement in environmental conservation, Dr. Ekrah emphasized the significance of tree planting as a transformative movement rather than a mere event. “As young people, we are the beacon of hope in Environmental Conservation, and as such, we are leading from the frontline,” she declared.

Highlighting the role of climate change in exacerbating natural disasters like floods, Dr. Ekrah remained steadfast in her optimism for the future. “In the face of adversity, there is hope,” she affirmed. “Together, we can take meaningful action to mitigate its effects and safeguard our communities for generations to come.”

Dr. Ekrah’s message resonated with the symbolic importance of trees as agents of resilience, growth, and hope. She underscored the profound impact of tree planting in combating climate change by absorbing carbon dioxide, stabilizing soil, and regulating water cycles.

On National Tree-planting Day, Dr. Ekrah issued a rallying call for collective action in rebuilding a greener future. “By participating in this initiative, you will not only contribute to healing our environment but also play a crucial role in fortifying our defenses against future floods,” she urged.

Her vision for a greener future, rooted in collective action and resilience, serves as an inspiration for all. Through her leadership and advocacy, Dr. Ekrah Ndung’u continues to galvanize individuals and communities toward a more sustainable and resilient tomorrow
