Fire brings down Garissa County Assembly
Garissa County Assembly was gutted down earlier today with property of unknown value destroyed.
The fire outbreak which began at around 8.30am, destroyed the County Assembly chambers, offices of the Members of County Assembly (MCAs) and other premises at the building.
Garissa County Assembly Minority Leader Mohamed Ali said the fire gutted down about 40-50% of the county assembly.
“At the moment we cannot ascertain the cause of the fire. But it has destroyed 40-50% of the County Assembly. The County Assembly chambers and a whole building that hosted almost 25 departmental committees and relevant offices are almost completely destroyed,” he said.
The cause of the fire could not be immediately established.
