The National Government has announced that it will start sending short message service (SMS) to all those who registered for Huduma Namba to collect their Huduma namba cards.

The Ministry of Interior and Government Coordination Principal Secretary Dr. Eng. Karanja Kibicho says the exercise has begun in Nairobi where collection desks have been set up in all Huduma Centres and all the 17 sub-county offices across the metropolitan area where those who will get the SMS are to go to so as to collect their cards.

The Government initiated the National Integrated Identity Management System (NIIMS) program through Executive Order No. 1 (2018).

The purpose of this initiative is to create and manage a central master population database which will be the ‘single source of truth’ on a person’s identity.

The database will contain information of all Kenyan citizens and foreign nationals residing in Kenya and will serve as a reference point for ease of service delivery to the people of Kenya with the slogan, Huduma Namba kwa Huduma Bora.
