Mt. Elgon Member of National Assembly Fred Chesebe Kapondi has called upon the area residents to keep off inciteful and divisive politics as 9th August general elections approach.

While addressing the residents during a public participation forum in Kapsokwony, Kapondi insisted on unity and the spirit of brotherhood among residents in the region.

“Let us normalize and embrace the political differences we have but avoid abusive and divisive language amongst us,” cautioned Kapondi.

The legislator further challenged his supporters to be tactical and aggressive in campaigning so as to ensure victory in the coming general election.

The MNA also dismissed allegations that his popularity was decreasing in some of the areas he considered as strongholds saying that nomination results could not be a litmus paper.

“With the allegations of malpractice in the concluded nominations, the numbers are nothing to gauge any candidate’s popularity in the region so let’s fully focus on the coming election,” Kapondi reassured his supporters.

On the other hand, Kapondi thanked his supporters for standing with him especially since his opponents had apparently ganged up to ensure his political death.

“If I emerged victorious during this nominations it’s a clear sign that I’ll be back in office come 10th August, jumping this hurdle from all my opponents combined is something commendable and it’s all thanks to my supporters,” he commented.
