Former Gatanga Member of Parliament Peter Kenneth has maintained that he will still continue to play a role in the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition ahead of the August polls even if he is not selected as the party’s presidential candidate Raila Odinga’s running mate.

Speaking shortly after he appeared before the party’s running mate selection panel on Tuesday, PK – as he is popularly known – expressed his loyalty to Odinga, noting that failing to deputize him will not lessen his support.

“In the unlikely event where I’m not the one fronted, I will still remain in Azimio and give my full support as I have given before, that is where I belong,” said Kenneth.

“My support for him is very passionate because I believe he will give Kenyans a reset moment where we can pick up from where we are and go further.”

He however maintained that it would greatly benefit the coalition party to pick a Odinga’s deputy from Central Kenya region which he termed as being rich in votes.

“Yes, I am from Mt. Kenya. Yes, I cut a national role. But it is important to realize that Mt. Kenya is a vote-rich area, and the opposition has had a field day there,” he said.
