Kenya Kwanza Administration Nominations Lack National Threshold

Kilifi County Senator Stewart Madzayo has lashed out at the recent nominations of principal secretaries arguing majority are drawn from only two regions.

He blasted the government saying 50 per cent of the nominees are from two regions.

“The nominations awaiting parliament vetting  lack a national outlook and it is against the constitution,” he said.           

Madzayo said there are 43 tribes listed to fill the remaining slots.   

He was speaking when he accompanied Azimio leader Raila Odinga during a burial service for Mzee Katoi Kahindi Mulanda held at Biyubu village, Bamba location in Ganze constituency.

The Kilifi senator called on President William Ruto to reconsider his decision and make a fresh nomination list.

Madzayo said he opposes the list of nominees before vetting takes place.

He insisted only two regions are beneficiaries of the slots with the rest being treated like second class citizens.

“The other regions are being treated like they are being done a favor and not as citizens of the county,” he pointed out.   

The Kilifi County Senator has sent a passionate appeal for other regions to be considered as long as they have those who qualify for the job.

He said other regions have suffered during the short listing after applicants sat for their interview.             

“The fate of the applicants from other regions was sealed after the shortlisting for the positions,” he added.

The senator challenged the Ruto administration to be fair during shortlisting of applicants for government appointments.
